Mother Africa
robbed and raped for centuries.
No one seems to care.
Black flesh locked in chains,
separated from loved ones.
Death their only friend.
Starved in ghettos like
societal excrement.
Objects with no voice.
Nameless skeletons
cry out from the ocean floor.
Pain beyond language.
By murdering blacks
the whole world can sleep better
knowing it is free.

That is kind of the point – there is no end. It goes on and on. Every time I tried to put a conclusion on it, it felt like a lie. This stuff has been happening forever. We are always left hanging, literally, metaphorically, economically, politically, etc..

Such is the nature of anti-black violence. There is a professor at the University of CA at Irvine named Frank Wilderson who has a great book about the structure of violence. He gets all the way to the last chapter and basically says “okay, I cannot give you a happy ending”.
I haven’t written a haiku in about 10 years. When it comes to black folks though, the short condense style feels appropriate for getting at the pain very quickly.

Lmfao it’s funny because most black folks wants their stuff upfront. Even in comedy. Poetry, badness, debt, etc hahahah

Right, I think it is a desire for equilibrium or a happy ending. Just think of the Slave movies we talked about : they all end with some kind of (white) redemption. That is what we are trained to seek: a nice, neat and tidy ending that we can smile about. But when it comes tidy violence against black folks … none of that is possible.
Glad you picked up on that!
